Swarf Management and Briquetting Machines
Tom Martin & Company can offer a full swarf management system should your manufacturing facility produce large volumes of non-ferrous swarf. In close collaboration with many of our customers, we have already overseen the investment and installation of numerous briquetting machines on our customers’ sites. The system allows you to achieve the following benefits:
- Increased scrap revenue: in puck form, the value of your scrap is increased.
- Increased transparency: no more deductions for moisture or oil content – you are paid for the weight of pucks recorded at your premises.
- Improved handling: once briquetted, pucks are easily stored and transported in collapsible stillages, forklift containers or skips.
- Significant savings: the coolant which is pressed out of the swarf can be recycled and pumped back into your coolant management system, thus reducing your spend on coolant.
- Improved Health, Safety and Environmental conditions: a briquetting system removes the problems associated with the handling of loose wet swarf.
- Reduced Carbon Footprint: by pressing the swarf, you can reduce the volume of the material by as much as 8:1 – this obviously means fewer collections are required, not to mention the benefits of recycling the coolant.
Furthermore, all of the above benefits can be achieved without the need for any capital expenditure on your part.
Tom Martin & Company can offer a briquetting press as well as a coolant filtration / recycling unit as part of a waste management package. For a no obligation site survey, please contact us.
RUF Briquetter
With this RUF metal press with or without a pre-charger - throughput rates of up to 70 kgs/h are realisable.
The coolant pressed out is pumped back to your coolant management system or held in a suitable storage container to await recycling. Because of the small size of the press it can be installed on site easily requiring only mains power and air supply. Feed and disposal peripherals are optional. The size of briquettes: DIA = 60 mm. The height is between approx. 40 and 80 mm.
